Winter Break & Laptop Reminders

Hello West Manheim Families,

As we prepare to head into the winter break tomorrow afternoon, we wanted to share a few important updates and reminders.

Winter Break:

  • December 23 – Early dismissal at 11:15 am

    • Students will eat lunch at school (pack or buy). If your child’s dismissal plans are different than usual, please notify your child’s teacher or the office as soon as possible.

  • December 24 – January 2: Winter Break

  • January 5 –  School resumes

Laptop Updates:

As we head into our winter break, we want to ensure our students are prepared for a smooth transition back to learning in January. If a flexible instruction day (FID Day) were to be called by the district, instructional information, timing, and assignments will be communicated directly from your students’ classroom teachers. To be ready for any potential inclement weather, students will be bringing their school laptops home tonight (12/22/25) and over the winter break (12/24/25 — 1/2/26). While these devices are being sent home as a proactive measure, we want to share a few reminders to help you and your child manage the technology during the holidays:

  • Educational Purpose: Please remember that school-issued laptops are intended for school-related purposes only. Keeping the focus on learning helps ensure the device remains a productive tool for your child’s education.

  • Handle with Care: We ask for your help in exercising caution with the physical care of the laptop. To avoid damage, please keep the device on a flat surface and away from food or drinks.

  • Prioritize Togetherness: Above all, we value your family time! We encourage you to focus on face-to-face interactions and meaningful holiday memories. We hope the break provides plenty of “unplugged” time for everyone.

  • Set Healthy Limits: To give students a true mental rest, we recommend limiting electronic time during the break. A little time away from screens helps students return feeling refreshed and ready to learn.

  • Ready for Return: Please ensure the laptop is fully charged and ready for use upon our return to school on Monday, January 5.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students prepared and our technology safe.

As we close out the year, I want to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude for your continued partnership, support, and trust. Your involvement and collaboration make a meaningful difference for our students, and we are truly grateful to be part of such a caring school community at West Manheim.

Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and joyful holiday season!
